SREE GLUG established
SREE GLUG — Sreenidhi GNU/Linux User's Group — was started at SNIST. One of the earliest GLUGs associated with an engineering college in the region (then Andhra Pradesh, now Telangana), it ran GNU/Linux, Free Software and awareness activities under the guidance of Dr. Sreedhar Potla.

Activities pause
GLUG activities gradually became inactive, as student communities sometimes do when their members graduate.

2025
SREE GLUG revived
SREE GLUG was revived and activities resumed — with renewed focus on GNU/Linux, Free Software, open standards, programming, DevOps, cybersecurity, AI, research and community building. The revived group works with Swecha Telangana and the FSMI ecosystem.
